Damp Proofing

The majority of damp proofing companies will offer either a chemical injection or ‘tanking’ system.Whilst both system’s have their merits, they also have limitations too.

To offer the most effective solution and work that will stand the test of time,I combine both.

Firstly the existing plaster is removed up to a minimum of one metre in height. The affected area is then chemically injected using Ultracure Damp Proofing cream.

I then use a proven, time tested damp proofing method, commonly known as 'tanking'.It is less expensive and has none of the inherent problems and complications of alternative methods such as internal drainage systems.

The stone or brick work is primed with Waterproof PVA.Then a strong coat of sand and cement, with damp proofing additive included in the mix,is applied. This area is covered with a minimum of two coats of spirit based bitumen.A mechanical key is then formed on the newly created damp proof membrane using Sharp sand, another primer coat of Waterproof PVA applied and at this stage the area is damp free and ready to be plastered to a smooth finish.

This method is often used in areas of extreme damp such as cellars where other methods are ineffective, making it an ideal and long lasting solution for rising damp issues.

All damp proofing work is accompanied by a long term warranty.

Drying time for a newly installed damp course is approximately two weeks.

Many of my previous clients have very kindly agreed to provide a reference as to the quality of my work in this area. Please contact me for details.
